Kremlin says Putin told Pence Russia would not meddle in U.S. election: Ifax

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin told U.S. V . p . Mike Pence Russia had not utilize meddling inside the 2016 U.S. election, Interfax reported on Monday, during discussions an upcoming meeting between Putin and President Donald Trump.

Putin and Pence spoke in Singapore a week ago about key problems that could be discussed with the meeting between the two leaders, required to take place along at the G20 summit in Argentina in late November, a Kremlin spokesman said.

Pence raised the issue of external meddling while in the U.S. election but Putin told him that “the Russian state had nothing to do … and will not need almost anything to apply meddling” in different electoral processes, Interfax quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.
