Saudi king urges action against Iran, backs Yemen peace

RIYADH (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia’s King Salman urged the international community on Monday to halt Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, and reiterated the kingdom’s support for U.N. efforts to separate the war in Yemen.

The king’s annual remarks to the Shura Council, a highly regarded governmental advisory body, were his first public comments considering that the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi on the country’s consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2, which sparked some sort of outcry.

King Salman, who failed to mention the Khashoggi affair, condemned the actions of Iran, its arch-rival for influence in your community, including while in the conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
