Cranberry growers desire to destroy crops to support prices

BOSTON – Cranberry farmers have asked the united states government for permission to kick one fourth within their crop in reply with a glut containing kept prices low and growers operating at a negative balance.

The Boston Globe reports any time fighting an oversupply of the berries for nearly 2 decades, growers surrounding the country are asking the U.S. Department of Agriculture for authorization to promote 75 percent of the supply and discard the remainder.

If the costa rica government approves their request, farmers would keep back roughly 100 million pounds of cranberries.
