Crowley declines to back Pelosi for speaker

Rep. Joe Crowley most recent York – the No. 4 Democrat inside the house – declined on Sunday to endorse Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for speaker, should Democrats get back the chamber from the GOP during this fall’s elections.

“Well, look, you are aware of, I do think that that might be about the modern Congress to choose who another leader or speaker … be,” Crowley told CBS’ "Face the continent."

“If we win your home back, Nancy will have a quite strong case for keeping the speakership,” he said. “If not, could possibly be other concerns that could come towards the fore at that point. Nevertheless it’s up to the subsequent Congress, Democratic Caucus to consider that fate.”

Crowley was widely viewed while in the party as the potential successor to your California Democrat before his upset loss recently to 28-year-old political newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, making Crowley the initial House Democrat to shed an initial in 2010.
